‘I’ve never felt powerful in a relationship’

Like many celebs, BILLIE EILISH finds herself at a loose end during the Covid-19 restrictions, which have effectively placed her career on hold.

In a recent interview with British GQ magazine, the American singing sensation says being locked down is “pretty bad, but with good reason”.

She lamented that after three years of hard grind and being endlessly overbooked, she found herself with “now, suddenly, nothing for the foreseeable future”, as her world tour has been postponed and all other public appearances having fallen away.

But work aside, the star is also wrestling with deeply personal demons. During the revealing interview, the 18-year-old explained that she has huge issues with her body, which she believes are partly fuelled by the way she was treated by her exes.

“I’ve never felt desired,” the Bad Guy hitmaker revealed. “My past boyfriends never made me feel desired. None of them.

“And it’s a big thing in my life that I feel I’ve never been physically desired by somebody.”

The songwriter went on to explain that this is partly the reason she wears mainly loose-fitting clothing.

“So I dress the way I dress as I don’t like to think of you guys – I mean anyone, everyone – judging it, or the size of it,” the five-time Grammy winner said. “But that doesn’t mean I won’t wake up one day and decide to wear a tank top, which I’ve done before.”

She released a provocative video earlier this year about body image and says it’s still something she thinks about, but it’s complicated.

“Sometimes I dress like a boy. Sometimes I dress like a swaggy girl,” she says. “And sometimes I feel trapped by this persona that I’ve created, because sometimes I think people view me not as a woman.”
