SHOULD I TELL HIM HE IS MAKING A MISTAKE?

-

I have met a guy at work who is the most stunning person I have ever known and I’ve fallen in love with him.

I have never believed in love at first sight but now I’m a believer. Maybe it’s just Cupid getting the last laugh because I thought I was a level-headed person and would never fall in love so quickly.

The problem is he is engaged to be married in June next year. He tells me he’s happy about it but there are many things that he says that indicate the opposite.

It’s also very clear to all of us at work that he and his fiancée are not compatible but nobody wants to tell him that. What should I do? Beverly, email It would not be wise for you to meddle in his decisions, even if you think he’s making a mistake.

The primary reason it’s not a good idea is because you’re in love with him and so you can’t be objective as your opinion is influenced by this.

Secondly, he most likely has close friends and family who know him well and are better placed to raise concerns about his choice of partner, if indeed they feel he is making a mistake.

If he and his fiancée are not in fact compatible hopefully he will realise this before June next year. What you can do in the meantime is get to know him better and perhaps you will develop enough trust for him to ask your opinion. But do no provide it unsolicited.
