AFRICAN ELEPHANTS IN DANGER
Research by the International Union for Conservation of Nature shows the numbers of African elephants on the continent are rapidly dropping, putting the animals that inhabit Africa’s forests and savannas at risk of extinction. They’ve now become one of the world’s most endangered species. Numbers have fallen by more than 86% over the past three decades – with poaching for their ivory tusks and destruction of their habitat as two of the biggest threats to their numbers.
