Mapimpi’s got the moves
There’s nothing like a good stretch – just ask Springbok MAKAZOLE MAPIMPI. The rugby player is speaking to YOU via video call from Japan, where he lives.
He shyly tells us he indulges in a spot of bed yoga every night to stay in top form.
Mapimpi, who plays for the Sharks, has been on a tryscoring streak while on loan at Japan Top League side NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes.
The 30-year-old credits his recent showing to yoga, which is known to improve strength, balance and flexibility.
“I was introduced to yoga at a gym class in Bloemfontein in 2017,” Mapimpi tells us. “I started doing it again during lockdown just to stretch.
“I normally do it before I sleep because we have tough training during the day. It makes me feel good because if you don’t stretch, you’ll wake up in the morning feeling stiff,” he says.
“Most of the time, I’m stretching my hamstrings and my back as well. It looks easy – but yoga can make you sweat.”
He certainly makes sweating look good.
