What causes it?
Many believe the appearance of cellulite is only caused by too much fat in the body. While accumulation of fat does contribute to cellulite, the thickness of your skin, body-fat percentage, genetics and age also play a role.
The severity also has to do with how the connective tissue, fat and muscle are spread under the skin, and this differs for each person. A build-up of fat beneath the skin’s surface pushes up and pulls the connective tissue bands down, causing the unevenness.
Men don’t often have cellulite because their connective tissue, fat and muscle are structured differently to women’s.
