NEWBORN TORTOISES SAVED

Airport officials in the Galapagos Islands have recovered 185 newborn tortoises from smugglers. The animals were found wrapped in plastic in a suitcase, and were being smuggled out of Galapagos Ecological Airport. A few of them didn’t survive the ordeal.

Galapagos giant tortoises are the largest in the world and are native to the World Heritage site islands situated off the coast of Ecuador in South America.
