PUERTO RICO
ARECIBO TELESCOPE CLEAN-UP
Work has started on cleaning up the site of the Arecibo Observatory radio telescope in Puerto Rico which collapsed in December.
It was constructed in 1963 and was the largest and most powerful in the world. It was used to track and collect vital information on asteroids that came close to Earth. Cables supporting the telescope broke and caused it to crash to the ground. Sadly, it couldn’t be repaired.
