Unbelievable religious landmarks

BRAZIL is known for its famous statue, Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro. Now a new religious statue of Christ is being built in the city of Encantado, in Rio Grande do Sul state, in the South American nation (ABOVE).

It’ll be named Christ the Protector and construction on the statue, made of steel and concrete, began in 2019. It’s expected to be completed later this year.

Brazilian politician Adroaldo Conzatti came up with the idea. The statue reportedly costs R5 million to build and is being funded by donations from people and companies.

Once the statue, which represents Jesus with outstretched arms, is completed it’s expected to attract many tourists as visitors will be able to take a lift to a special viewpoint in the statue’s chest.

It’ll stand at 43m tall – much larger than the world-famous Christ the Redeemer, which is 38m tall.

Christ the Protector will join many amazing religious landmarks in the world that allow us to learn more about different cultures and religions.
