CHRIST THE REDEEMER

Also known as Cristo Redentor, this statue of Jesus is built on Mount Corcovado and overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro. It was built in the 1920s in Paris, France, then shipped to Brazil in 1931 to celebrate the country’s 100-year independence from Portugal.
