Romantic comedy. In the final film of the popular To All the Boys trilogy based on the books by Jenny Han, teen couple Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) must make decisions about life after high school. Peter’s big dream of studying at Stanford University comes true, but Lara Jean is uncertain about her future.

The couple’s relationship finds itself in choppy waters when she learns she hasn’t been accepted to Stanford. This leaves her with two options: the University of California, which is about 60km from Peter, or the University of New York, which will put 5 000km between them.

Will Lara Jean follow her heart, or will her decision cost her the love of her life?

This sequel to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (2018) and To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020), shows how Lara Jean and Peter grow together and learn new things about their relationship. Each heads into a new chapter in their lives but they also take on a lot together.

Although the film is light-hearted it also touches on serious issues, such as Peter’s estrangement from his father (Henry Thomas from The Haunting of Bly Manor) and Lara Jean’s broken relationship with her older sister, Margot (Pretty Little Liars’

Janel Parrish), who moves to Scotland.

The film also emphasises the support of loved ones. As Lara Jean’s mom has passed away, it’s the strong and honest bond with her father ( John Corbett from My Big Fat Greek Wedding) that tugs at the heartstrings. One of the standout moments is his beautiful wedding, with the lovely décor creating a romantic backdrop for the climax of the film.

With everything going on in Lara Jean and Peter’s relationship, it’s worth seeing the final instalment of this trilogy. A must-watch for fans. ABBY-GENE BISSOLATI 2021. 115 MIN. 10-12PG LS.
