HACKS FOR THE FACE

-

CUSTOMISE YOUR FOUNDATION

Don’t just use foundation. Instead, mix it with your favourite serums, creams and/or primers for a custom, seamless-looking finish that will keep your skin looking hydrated and dewy all day long.

For a glowier finish, legendary makeup artist Renee De Wit recommends adding a smidge of MAC’s Strobe Cream to any foundation.

“Not only will it reduce the heaviness of any base but it’ll instantly increase your glow and leave skin looking fresh and natural.”

DRAW A FIGURE 3

Bronzer can take you from looking dull and tired to chiselled, healthy and glowing instantly. However, there’s a fine line between a sculpted glow and overly bronzed. Beauty blogger Huda Kattan recommends the rule of three.

“Applying bronzer in the shape of a three is one of the oldest tricks in the beauty bible; it’s super simple and easy to follow and yet it works on everyone,” she says.

The classic rule is to draw a three on either side of your face to help frame it. Start by sweeping your bronzer brush along your forehead, around your hairline, under your cheekbones and back around and under your jaw, just like if you were to draw a three shape on either side of your face.

Most importantly, she stresses that blending your bronzer is key as obvious lines never look good

BLUSH IS A MUST

A couple sweeps of cream or powder blush along the high points of your cheeks will give your entire look a brighter, warmer finish with pure ease.

“I use blush on all my clients – it gives the skin that fresh and rejuvenated look and it adds the perfect amount of depth to the face,” De Wit says.

And, no, that doesn’t mean you need to pick a bright-pink blush or anything like that.

“Rosy-pink or beige blushes are the best way to enhance cheeks with a highlighter over the top of blush that’s been applied along the cheekbone. This will draw attention to the area and subtly contour.”
