HARRY’S ABSENCE

-

The Sussexes’ glaring absence at the service highlighted the splintered relationship between Harry and his family in England.

The Californiabased prince (37) has been vocal about not setting foot back on British soil if he’s not afforded the same VIP protection from the police he received as a royal and has launched legal action in a bid to get his way.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward believes Harry, who has a tell-all memoir coming out later this year, must have known his absence from the service “would look petulant and rude”.

“The wall of silence was as loud as if they had shouted from the abbey rafters,” she says. “The normally verbose duke and duchess of Sussex said nothing.”

Royal author Robert Jobson says Harry’s absence was “disrespectful” not only to the queen but to his grandfather.

“Harry was guided so well by the Duke of Edinburgh,” he says. “He really should have been there.”

The prince hasn’t been in the UK since July last year when he and William attended an unveiling of a statue of their late mother, Princess Diana.

His two-year-old son, Archie, has met his family in England only a few times and he and wife Meghan Markle have yet to introduce their daughter, Lilibet (10 months), to any members of the royal family.

“Harry is such a changed person now it’s difficult to know if he will even regret not attending,” royal biographer Angela Levin told The Sun.

“The Harry I interviewed in the past was caring and kind and instinctive. Nowadays, he is so full of resentment and ‘me me me’. He doesn’t seem to have any broader range to care about things unless they revolve around him and Meghan.”
