Your wave machine shows how waves carry energy from one place to another. • When you tilt one of the skewers, you create a wave. • The energy you used gets carried along the duct tape. • Only the energy moves forward – the duct tape and skewers merely rock back and forth as the wave’s energy passes through them. • The jelly babies add mass to the skewers and create resistance in the form of weight so the wave doesn’t pass through too quickly.
