WHERE TO STORE THEM

-

S Gas bottles are often installed outside, but it’s legal and safe to install up to 19kg of gas inside your home to supply gas stoves, ovens, gas fires or braais, as well as hot water systems. For a kitchen stove, for example, a technician can do the installation so the cylinder is stored discreetly in a cupboard. S For safety reasons a gas cylinder must be more than 5m away from an electrical power point, 2m from an open drain or manhole and 1m from a door or window. They also can’t be stored in a garage. S These safety concerns will determine where you keep your cylinder and how much copper piping is needed to run between the cylinder and the stove. S Gas geysers are installed outside,

usually in a central spot between bathrooms and the kitchen.

Gas cylinders are then installed outside and connected to your geyser with piping and wiring. Geyser recommends having 2 x 48kg cylinders installed.

They’re about a metre wide and 1,2m high so they take up a fair amount of space but if you’re able to accommodate them on your property they’ll last longer than the smaller cylinders.
