WALLET: BUDGET EXPENSE TRACKER

-

ANDROID & iOS COST: FREE; PREMIUM: R486 A YEAR

THE LOWDOWN Created by Budget Bakers, Wallet has been dubbed a market-leading personal finance manager by the Google Playstore and has been downloaded by 6,6 million people worldwide. Like other apps, Wallet allows you to sync your balance and transactions with your bank accounts to keep a record of the money that goes in and out of your account. It’s also easier to see all your accounts, making it simpler for you to analyse and learn about your spending habits. Wallet has three main categories to help you understand your finances, including a breakdown of spending on all your accounts; a view of a much-simplified version of your accounts, making them easier to understand; and coloured charts to show your spending habits. The app also has a game called Was It Worth It?, which looks at how your money habits affect your emotions. Once five transactions have been imported to the app, the game is unlocked and asks you to rate how your feel about those transactions, no matter if you bought it, saved it or invested it. You choose between dislike, neutral and like. THE PROS This app is user-friendly, making it easy for beginners to navigate. THE CONS The free version doesn’t allow you to connect your banking apps, which means you’ll have to manually load your transactions. Transactions only update every 24 hours, so you don’t see the movement in your account immediately.
