GOOD BUDGET
ANDROID & iOS COST: FREE
THE LOWDOWN Good Budget is a budgeting app that’s perfect if you have a family. The app, which allows you to plan your budget, track debt and manage your money, can be synced across multiple phones and the web, ensuring you and your loved ones are all on the same page financially.
It also helps you make sense of your budgeting by tracking your spending, debt, savings and sending you a detailed report.
A cool feature is the app’s digital-envelope system. For example, in one envelope you can set aside R1 000 for groceries while in another envelope you can put aside R500 for a shopping spree – each envelope is represented by a colourful bar on your home screen, which adjusts as money leaves your account. The free version allows for 20 envelopes. THE PROS
The app is ad-free so you can analyse your reports without any hassle or distractions. Your data is automatically and securely backed up on Good Budget’s website. THE CONS
Good Budget has two plans: a free version and a paid subscription called Good Budget Plus. To get key features such as an unlimited number of envelopes, an unlimited number of linked accounts and seven years of transaction tracking, you’ll have to pay R118 a month or R1 000 a year.
