MISSION TO SAVE ‘WATER MONSTER’

Scientists and farmers are working together to conserve the Xochimilco wetlands, home to the endangered Axolotls, a salamander species also known as the Mexican walking fish, Mexican salamander and Water monster.

The fish, which can regrow limbs and organs, is on the brink of extinction. Together with farmers, scientists hope to rid the area of pesticides by returning to an ancient, sustainable form of farming that's safer for the planet.
