DEVASTATING NEWS

-

William and Harry were fast asleep while on holiday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland in August 1997.

At around 1am, Prince Charles was woken and told that there’d been a crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris.

Diana’s boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, was dead. His exwife was injured.

The prince woke the queen. Then moments later came the call that Diana was dead. Charles, racked with guilt and grief, broke down and wept. The queen advised against waking his sons.

When Charles returned from a walk at around 7am, William was awake. Charles hugged him and broke the news. They then undertook the task of telling Harry together.

The sounds of their raw pain could be heard throughout the house.
