NEXT ON NETFLIX
Homegrown talent continues to shine on Netflix as it produces more and more South African and African movies and shows. Here’s a look at some of what’s coming up later this year and in 2023.
LUDIK
Arnold Vosloo stars in the streamer’s first Afrikaans-language original series, which is now screening. He plays a furniture tycoon with underworld ties who must use his secret diamond-smuggling operation to transport guns across the border to save a kidnapped family member.
THE BRAVE ONES
An all-mighty goddess reincarnated as a young woman must harness her divine powers to avenge her sister’s death and protect her family from destruction in this supernatural series directed and written by Akin Omotoso. Streaming from 16 September.
WILD IS THE WIND
A crooked cop tries to accept responsibility for his role in the erroneous arrest of a black teenager charged with the murder of
a young Afrikaans girl in a small, racially divided community. Streaming in October.
KINGS OF QUEENSTOWN
Renowned South African filmmaker Jahmil XT Qubeka directs this series about a soccer prodigy who must deal with his father, a retired professional. Zolisa Xaluva stars in the show and it premieres on 4 November.

Season 3 is back in November.

INUMBER NUMBER: FOOL’S GOLD
S’Dumo Mtshali and Presley Chweneyagae reprise their roles as cops investigating the largest gold robbery in African history. Coming early 2023.
