No error detected - Google just says no to these ‘silly questions’

-

IS THERE anything Google doesn’t know? These days you can get the answers to anything at the touch of a fingertip – but the search engine has grown tired of answering some of its users and will no longer respond to silly questions.

The tech giant says this will help stop the spread of misinformation, or false information, online – something they’d previously been slammed for. “We’ve trained our systems to get better at detecting these sorts of false premises, which are not very common, but there are cases where it’s not helpful,” says Pandu Nayak, the vice president of search at Google. The changes will be made to Google’s featured snippets, which are highlighted bits of text that appear at the top of a

Google search results page.

They provide users with a quick answer to their search query.

Some of the questions they’ll refuse to answer include: “Can I remove a tick with my teeth?”, “Who is king of the United States?”, “What happened to the dinosaurs?” and “Why are fire trucks red?”

Google will notify you when you search for a topic that may have unreliable results.

“It looks like there aren’t many great results for this search,” the site warns.
