WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT JUPITER
A day on Jupiter is only 10 hours long because it spins extremely fast.
Jupiter is known for having the Great Red Spot, a storm big enough to swallow earth. The planet has been called a “gas giant” for its size and composition. Jupiter is made up of large amounts of hydrogen and helium and is so big that all the other planets in the solar system could fit inside it.
Nasa’s first mission to Jupiter was in 1973 on a spacecraft called Pioneer 10.
While Earth has just one moon, scientists believe Jupiter has 79 moons – 53 of which are confirmed and named. The four largest moons are lo, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.
