CLIMATE CHANGE CAUSES A BUZZ FOR BEES
New studies show that bees have become increasingly stressed by climate change. The hotter and wetter the weather, the more likely they are to grow deformed wings, say researchers from the Imperial College London and the Natural History Museum in the UK. “We’re seeing that bees are declining in populations across the world,” says researcher Dr Richard Gill. “What our work is starting to do is explain when, where and potentially how this stress is being placed on these bee species,” he says.
Bees are pollinators and play a vital part in every aspect of the ecosystem. They support the growth of trees, flowers and other plants, which serve as food and shelter.
