ANATOMY OF THE FRUIT
HUSK
The nut is encased in a green, and later greenish-brown, fibrous and smooth husk.
SHELL
The macadamia has the hardest shell of all nuts. It’s so hard, you need a hammer to crack it. The shell of M. integrifolia is woody and mostly entirely smooth. It’s brown in colour and it often has a lighter stain.
NUT
This is the part of the fruit we eat. There’s usually one nut per fruit, but there can be two. The nut is a creamy-white colour.
