5 OCTOBER 2011 – STEVE JOBS DIES

-

Steve Jobs was one of the founders of Apple Inc – one of the most successful technology companies in the world. During his time there, the American businessman and developer introduced many popular electronic products, which are still in use today.

When he was just 21, he founded the Apple Computer Company with his friend, Stephen Wozniak. Together they built the Apple I computer in Steve’s garage.

Steve was so passionate about building tools and systems to help make people’s lives better that he also changed the music and movie industries. In fact, his innovative ideas led to founding Pixar, the animation company that produced the Toy Story movies.

But as Apple became more successful, he began experiencing health problems. In 2003, he was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer.

He refused treatment for nine months before undergoing surgery to have the cancer removed, but it was not as effective as doctors had hoped.

Although the cancer was believed to be slow-growing, it had spread to the tissues surrounding the organ and doctors couldn’t save him.

Steve died at the age of 56. Many people believe that some of the things we use and enjoy in our daily lives wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for him: he helped develop Mac computers, iPhones, iPods and iPads, iTunes and Apple Stores, among other things.
