TO PARENTS OF BULLIES

-

I write this letter to parents who turn a blind eye to children who are bullies.

My daughter tried to commit suicide in June this year because her so-called friends turned against her because of a silly photo.

My beautiful girl who’s always been an extroverted, loving child became an introverted, quiet, depressed one.

Nothing is more heartbreaking than seeing your child’s light disappearing because another child is unhappy with herself. In all honesty if my daughter had behaved like this girl had, I would’ve immediately made her apologise and not tolerated such behaviour.

It’s easy to blame the child but we as parents must start taking responsibility for our children’s behaviour. Turning a blind eye only causes more damage. I can’t tell you the fear I felt on hearing she’d taken pills and wanted to die.

I’ve already lost a child, my son, and it’s not something any parent wants to go through.

Thankfully my daughter received treatment and is now in another school and my beautiful daughter is back again.

My advice to parents: if your child is withdrawn, go with your gut feeling. It could very well save their lives. And to the parents who turn a blind eye to their child’s behaviour: start teaching them kindness and tolerance towards other children. You could very well be saving a child’s life today. GRATEFUL MOM, EMAIL
