Angelina says when she and Brad bought the property she wanted to sign an agreement spelling out what would happen to the estate if they should split. Brad felt it was unnecessary.

In the documents, she says she considered Miraval “an investment” and “a family home” but Brad developed the property according to his own taste and vision – sometimes to astonishing excess.

“While Jolie would have preferred a more collaborative approach, she acquiesced to Pitt’s desire to take control of the project, although she sometimes questioned why, for example, the chateau needed a fifth pool at the cost of one million euros or why the same staircase needed to be rebuilt four times.”
