‘CULTURE CLASH’

-

After the engagement, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway issued a nice enough statement, saying they wished their daughter and her fiancé “all the best for the future”.

But a statement issued recently by the 85-year-old king made it clear problems had since emerged.

“We get to know each other better and better, and we’ll talk to him, as we do in a family. So, it’s going to work out.

“But I don’t promise that it’ll be resolved tomorrow.

“It’s the culture clash we’re now noticing.”

Märtha Louise says things have been far from easy.

“Before Durek, my mom had been worried because it had been three years and I hadn’t had a boyfriend.

“When I told her that I did and she asked who it was . . . I don’t know if I can say that much about it, to be honest.

“In America, people are more open to it. In Norway, it’s very, very, extremely controversial. I should be with a CEO or a lord or someone of a high rank of some sort. To be with a shaman, that’s terribly out of the box.”

Märtha Louise has been dropped by several of the patronages she heads because of her husband-to-be’s wacky treatments – one of which is a medallion he claims could cure Covid-19 at €200 a pop.
