THE BENEFITS OF A GREY-WATER SYSTEM

It’s important to remember that ANY grey-water system is better than NO grey-water system. So, don’t think that just by using a jug and bucket you’re not playing a huge part in being water-wise. You absolutely are! By collecting and using grey water properly, it’s possible to stretch urban water supplies and save as much fresh, potable water as possible. This also reduces the stress on our local sewage systems by ensuring that most of the water entering it is black water.

Irrigating your garden and plants with suitable grey water also ensures that the groundwater levels (water found deep underground) are replenished.

When you consider that South Africa has an annual rainfall far less than the global average, you realise that every drop really does count.
