NOTRE DAME RESTORATION ON TRACK

At least 22 paintings that were rescued from the cathedral in Paris after it caught fire in April 2019 are being restored in a delicate operation that will take about two years to complete. About 50 experts were called in to clean the pieces so they can be ready for the cathedral reopening in 2024. Around €2,75 million (R47m) has been donated from around the world for the project, which began in October 2021 and is being carried out at a secret location near the French capital.
