Cassie Bowden (KALEY CUOCO) takes off again, this time as a spy in over her head, in the second season of the comedy thriller series. The story picks up a year after the events of season 1, with Cassie attempting sobriety and getting her life back together.
She’s still a flight attendant, but also moonlights for the CIA, taking photos and gathering information for the agency around the world. It’s all going great until she’s nearly killed on an assignment in Berlin, where she also finds a woman who might be impersonating her.
As The Big Bang Theory neared its end, Kaley was looking for a new project, “at books to maybe produce, or different stories that kind of were interesting to me, but nothing excited me.
“And, honestly, I read one little snippet, a line of the book [by Chris Bohjalian] on Amazon. It was just one sentence and I got like this weird chill, and I called my team and said, ‘Hey, I’d love to look at the rights to this book’.”
After a bidding war, The Flight Attendant took off. But the series is more light-hearted than the book. “There was something about this that I thought, if we could find the right team and bring some levity to such a dark book, that it could be kind of cool,” Kaley said.
Co-showrunner Steve Yockey, agreed, saying, “I’m a huge fan of genre blending. I think it’s really a great way to tell stories. And what we’re telling is a pretty dark thriller, with the dark comedy woven throughout each episode.” BLOODLANDS SEASON 2 BRITBOX FROM 27 OCTOBER
