AMBER HEARD HIDES OUT IN SPAIN

-

‘She’s very polite. She always says good morning to us’ – A RESIDENT OF COSTITX

WHILE JOHNNY DEPP has been soaking up the limelight following his highly publicised defamation trial, his ex-wife, AMBER HEARD, has chosen anonymity in a tiny village in Spain. The Aquaman actress (36) has been staying in a multimillion-euro villa in Costitx, Palma de Mallorca, under the pseudonym Martha Jane Cannary – the real name of Wild West legend Calamity Jane.

With a population of less than a 1 300 people it’s easy to see why she chose Costitx. But Johnny’s fans are seething at the fact she’s forking out a small fortune for the Spanish bolthole when he hasn’t received a cent of the $10 million she was ordered to pay him in the defamation trial. Amber was also awarded $2m in damages after the court found she was defamed by one of Johnny’s lawyers.

However, she’s appealing the ruling and her legal team recently filed court papers arguing a lack of “clear and convincing evidence” and the verdict being “inherently and irreconcilably inconsistent” after both sides were awarded damages.

On top of footing the bill for her holiday she must cough up for her new legal team after she fired the previous one. But money seems to be the last thing on her mind as she’s been looking happy and carefree walking the cobbled streets of the town with her one-year-old daughter, Oonagh, girlfriend Bianca Butti, and her closest friends. Locals say the actress, who was villainised in the trial, has no airs or graces.

“She’s been in this town for months without anyone knowing,” a resident says. “She’s like anyone else: she buys fruit and vegetables, she speaks Spanish with a Mexican accent, and she’s very polite. She always says good morning to us.”
