IN DEFENCE OF KARENS

-

A “Karen” is, in modern terms, an entitled, obnoxious woman who throws temper tantrums and has strong views about things that are none of her business. I’m a Karen (really) in name. Can’t we change the label to prickly pears or grouch monsters? If we’re using names as labels, maybe “Bobs” can be nose pickers, “Thandis” can be smelly or “Charlenes” can be annoying?

If you are a Bob, Thandi or Charlene, I’m sure my suggestion will be leaving you a little indignant too, knowing that that label doesn’t define you.

Or, heaven forbid, perhaps this letter just proves I’m the dreaded “Karen”. KLM, EMAIL
