JANET CELEBRATES 25 YEARS!
Janet Jackson is toasting the success of one of her bestselling albums, 1997’s The Velvet Rope, with the release of a new deluxe edition.
The Velvet Rope: Deluxe Version consists of an A-side – the album’s 23 original tracks along with two bonus tracks – and a B-side of 13 remixes, which includes the Blackstreet remix of her No 1 hit, I Get Lonely. Ten of the tracks are new to streaming services.
Released in October 1997, The Velvet Rope – her sixth studio album – is widely considered to be the five-time Grammy winner’s most personal album, with its themes of female sexuality, mental health and domestic violence.
It yielded a string of No 1 hits, including Together Again, I Get Lonely, Go Deep and Got Til It’s Gone – which won a Grammy Award – and is largely credited with blazing a new trail for contemporary R&B artists.
