WHY CHILDREN ARE MOST AT RISK

-

Young children can’t regulate temperature changes as well as adults because their bodies don’t have much fatty tissue and can lose heat four times faster than adults do.

They also don’t sweat as much as adults do, which also affects their ability to adjust to these rising temperatures.

Being too hot or too cold also makes them vulnerable (see Word of the Week) to a range of health problems such as asthma, heart disease and even death.
