IGNITE YOUR PATRIOTISM

I recently saw a documentary on Rwanda. While there is still much rebuilding to be done, what struck me was the strides in development and progression in that country.

The overwhelming patriotism was an eye-opener. I think that patriotism is what this country needs. For far too long we thought we didn’t belong in this country because we were second-class citizens.

All citizens need to acknowledge that this is our country and if we don’t take care and look after it, it will be a disaster for every one of us.

From pollution to crime, we need to ensure that each one of us is responsible for our surroundings. Each of us must ensure that litter goes in bins, that crime is reported, that we must make the politicians that we voted for accountable, that we must hold ourselves responsible because we voted for the people who run our country.

After all, if we want to be proud of our country, we must realise that it’s in our hands.
