DON’T FEED PIGEONS AND GEESE

Since writing about a friend having problems with neighbours feeding pigeons and geese in Port Alfred, community protection services have advised that there are no laws against feeding any wild animals, including monkeys. There should be laws in this respect. No one wants all the noise and disease this brings about.

An option to stop this action is to obtain an interdict at their expense. Pigeons and geese are objectionable as they harbour diseases communicable to man and their nesting areas are dirty. Their actions create a nuisance that is substantial and continuous. Feeding pigeons also attracts rats, feral cats, monkeys and all sorts.
