MUSK AXES EXECUTIVES
Elon Musk, tweeter-in-chief
THE world’s richest man took ownership of Twitter in a $44-billion deal – and promptly fired the social-media platform’s top executives. Musk changed his Twitter profile description to “Chief Twit” and sacked CEO Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde after accusing them of misleading him and Twitter investors over the number of fake accounts on the platform.
A self-described “free speech absolutist”, the SA-born billionaire says his goals for Twitter include using it as a foundation for creating a “super app” that offers everything from money transfers to shopping and ride-hailing.
