Hamilton says he’s not leaving

-

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton says he’s not retiring any time soon.

The driver’s contract with Mercedes expires at the end of next season and Hamilton, who turns 38 in January, has previously expressed doubts he’ll still be racing in F1 at the age of 40.

But he’s confirmed he’s not going anywhere just yet.

“We’re going to do another deal,” he told the BBC. “We’re going to sit down and we’re going to discuss it in these next couple of months, I would say.

“My goal is to continue to be with Mercedes. I’ve been with Mercedes since I was 13 and it really is my family. MercedesBenz have stuck with me through thick and thin.”

Hamilton says he wants to keep on racing. “I love what I do. I’ve been doing it for 30 years, and I don’t feel I should have to stop. I think I’m currently still earning my keep and I want to do better still.”
