Jonathan Pryce (75) replaces Tobias Menzies and Matt Smith as the Duke of Edinburgh.

Jonathan was cast as Elizabeth’s husband before Philip’s passing in 2021 and says his death made it easier for him as an actor.

“It sounds like a terrible thing to say about a person who’s passed, but while he was an enigma, I felt easier about playing him. Of course, when he died, there was documentary after documentary. I was like, ‘Oh no, now you’re going to be looking for that!’”
