GOTHAM KNIGHTS PC, XBOX SERIES X/S, PS5
The holy trinity of Batman games – Rocksteady Studios’ Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight – redefined what a superhero game could be and with such big boots to fill, expectations of Gotham Knights were immense.
Gotham Knights was first revealed at the Game Awards 2020 with a trailer that began with the words, “Batman is dead”.
The dark knight is indeed dead and, sadly, so are fans’ hopes that this game would live up to the ground-breaking Arkham series.
Still, it does have an interesting storyline and its character development is a genuine high point. Combat can be fun, if a bit repetitive, and the game is stuffed with fan service moments and Easter eggs.
Gotham Knights’ biggest crimes are that it’s an average game – good, but not great – and that it’s not the game Bat Family fans expected it to be.
SPLATOON 3 NINTENDO SWITCH
Like its predecessors, Splatoon 3 is a thirdperson shooter with a twist – instead of firing bullets at your opponents, the aim of the game is to cover the arena with your teams’ paint colour before time runs out.
Graphically, not much has changed since Splatoon 2, but the game’s art direction and design remain top notch and new modes have been added.
If you are tired of realistic shooters and dull grey worlds, Splatoon 3 is easily a must-buy game for the Nintendo Switch.
The online play has been the best in series so far and we expect Nintendo to support it with new content for the foreseeable future.
MARIO SUPER STRIKERS NINTENDO SWITCH
From tennis to golf to soccer, Mario’s sports game offshoots have always been some of the most fun you can have with a sports game.
Super Strikers is no different – it’s a joy to play, with controls that make it easy for anyone to pick up and play, but there’s enough depth in the gameplay with over-the-top super moves and powers.
While it offers a decent single-player mode, the real value in this title is playing against others.
