THE RACING ROYAL

-

Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani (36), the emir’s brother, was dubbed “the patron sheikh” of drag racing in Los Angeles, which he’d made his home – until the LAPD came looking for him.

The playboy prince first made headlines in 2015 when a dangerous drag race through a residential part of Beverly Hills was caught on tape.

He admitted to owning the multi-million-dollar canaryyellow Ferrari, which was racing a Porsche, but denied being the driver and claimed diplomatic immunity when police tried to arrest him.

By the time the cops discovered he didn’t, in fact, have immunity as he wasn’t a member of the diplomatic corps, he’d skipped the country.

Witnesses, including video journalist Jacob Rogers, filmed the drag race and afterwards asked Khalid why he’d been driving so recklessly.

“He told me, verbatim, ‘I could have you killed and get away with it’,” Rogers told NBC News.

“I told him, ‘The press is allowed to be here on the sidewalk on a public street’. He said, ‘ F**k America’ and threw a cigarette at me.”
