LILOENE’SUKHOEAPD
Table Mountain towers over the Mother City and is probably one of the most recognisable tourist snaps in the world. Lion’s Head – which resembles a reclining male lion, hence the name – lies between Table Mountain and ⬛ignal Hill, and the hike to the top of this peak is one of the must-do experiences in Cape Town.
Lion’s Head reaches 669m above sea level and offers a magnificent view over the city from its summit. This 5km-long route is at its most popular when there’s a full moon. Depending on how fit you are, this hike can take you between two and three hours. There are also several paragliding launch points nearby.
Hikers are treated to a variety of fynbos along this route. The Cape is known for its rich biodiversity, which provides a home for numerous small animals, such as reptiles, dassies and porcupines.
