The phenomenal forward has confirmed this will be his last world cup.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner came on as a substitute in the 74th minute during his 2006 debut and within 13 minutes had scored and assisted in his side’s 6-0 victory against Serbia.
In his four world cups, Messi has scored six goals and appeared in 19 matches, of which Argentina won 13. Argentina’s best world cup performance with Messi was in 2014 when they lost 1-0 in the final against Germany.
