ISIMANGALISO WETLAND
This park in KwaZulu-Natal about 200km north of Durban was declared South Africa’s first Unesco World Heritage Site in 1999. The name means “miracle “in isiZulu and this magical place is the largest protected wetland in Southern Africa. It offers visitors the opportunity to see animals such as hippos, crocodiles, hyenas and wild dogs. It’s also a popular snorkelling and diving destination. The centrepiece is the 350km² Lake St Lucia.
