DEVELOPMENTS IN UKRAINE
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently visited the town of Kherson where residents celebrated the retreat (see Word of the Week) of Russian armed forces. Since their invasion of the Ukraine began nine months ago, Russian soldiers have occupied the area and people were left without electricity and water. Ukrainian officials have been working to restore utilities and provide basic needs for residents in the southern city of Kherson. Zelenskyy says he hopes this could be “the beginning of the end of the war”. But a Russian missile strike in Poland that killed two people could worsen tensions globally.
