SOMETHING KOOL COMES THIS WAY
The beloved US band Kool & the Gang will perform two concerts in SA at the end of the year, at Grand West in Cape Town on 28 November and at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on 30 November.
Formed in 1969, the band’s iconic hits include partystarters such as Celebration, Cherish, Ladies Night and Jungle Boogie.
Their unique blend of jazz, hip-hop, funk and R&B has seen them win two Grammys, seven American Music Awards and release 31 gold and platinum albums.
They remain one of hip-hop’s most sampled bands and hold the accolade for performing continuously longer than any other R&B group in history.
The group have a new song out, VIP, which features on their latest album, People Just Wanna Have Fun.
This year sees them nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2024. “We started out as the Jazziacs, seven jazz enthusiasts still in

grammar school. We could’ve never imagined our passion for music would take us around the world and into the songbook of American popular music,” says Robert Kool Bell (73), the only surviving member of the original band.
They will be supported by the Earth, Wind & Fire Experience featuring vocalists including former EWF member Gregory Moore.
