Your Baby & Toddler - - TALKING POINT -

The first meeting between your new beau and your child, and the way you handle it, can be a dealbreaker. Always prepare your child for the meeting – do not surprise her with your new partner, advises Sinette: “If you told them before you are meeting with friends from time to time, you could begin talking about a specific person. Once you have done the foundation work and you are feeling safe and secure in the relationship, you could then arrange for them to meet.”

“Do not try an accidental bumping into the partner at the park or beach; children will see through it,” she cautions. “Warn them beforehand they are going to meet him and make the meeting informal and brief. If it went well a next meeting could be slightly longer.”
