From the editor

Recently I had the privilege of attending a magazine conference with speakers from all over the world. It was wonderful to have access to some of the best brains in the business. Of course, being first and foremost a journalist, I took furious notes and asked questions, but I held back a bit from asking one burning question, because it doesn’t have much to do with media, but is something I always wonder about when I meet brilliant, enthusiastic, confident people.

The question? What did your parents do to raise such a happy, positive, successful person?

When journalists get together they often talk about who would be the ultimate person to interview. Of course, rather predictably, a certain Benoni-bred star’s name pops up. I have no desire to interview onse Charlize, but what I wouldn’t give to interview her mother! In spite of a very difficult family situation (come on, we all know about it) Gerda raised a bright, talented, confident daughter who shines on the world stage. Maybe I should send the Therons this page to get a foot in the door... In the meantime, please enjoy this issue of Your Baby, where countless experts in various aspects of parenting share their advice.
