If you encourage your child by telling him how responsible and clever he is, he will become even more clever and responsible. Give him a pat on the back for doing good deeds, but remind him that it is not only good deeds that will earn him your love. Reassure him that you love him regardless. “Just imagine how great it feels to be loved unconditionally simply for being you!” he says.
