Above left: “Malan’s shack” was the decor set-up of the treat table at the beach. Above: The Van As family. Malan with proud mom Annalize and grandmother Stephnie as well as grandpa Tokkie and dad Deon. Left: Chocolate sea shells and personalised party packs in buckets (they were jam-packed with goodies including water guns) carried the beach theme through. Below left: The cake – built to resemble a sandcastle – was made of vanilla and beautifully decorated with a lifesaver’s tube, a classic VW bus, and fish. Bottom left: “Crabmallows” are marshmallows dipped in white chocolate and food colouring. Below: Sprite was cleverly disguised as “ocean water” in urns with a dash of food colouring to give it that sea blue hue. Bottom right: Water balloons, about 200 of them, made the party even more fun as both kids and adults had a good old-fashioned water balloon fight. The “Gone Fishin’” signage, and all the other signage, was personally made with love by mom Annalize.
